This project was completed as part of my Social Entrepreneurship class at RISD. How can flat-pack cane furniture be achieved with the introduction of metal joints, requiring no screws, tools, while at the same time simplifying the construction, reducing assembly time? Referencing the vine-wrapping techniques of the Guyanese furniture company Liana Cane, I derived the H- shaped cross-lap metal joinery allowing for connection in a variety of applications. Using this joinery, I constructed a table to demonstrate one of the possible usages.
